Oh a lot of them! Probably my favorite from 2004 is the "His Dark Materials" series by Philip Pullman, which was spectacularly good. Others include The Lovely Bones, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Things Not Seen, After and The Grim Grotto.

I read the Dragonriders of Pern series this year and now I'm obsessed with it. And I also love Child of my Heart and Memoirs of a Geisha.

I'd say my favorite books that I read this year were:1) "In her Shoes" by Jennifer Weiner (TOTAL chick book, but loads of fun)2) "Kill the Messenger" by Tami Hoag (this book gae me the creeps, and it takes a lot for a book to do that)3) "The Negociator" by Dee Henderson (a romantic suspense book, from a Christian standpoint. was quite cool actually)

Wow Kill the Messenger sounds like a good book. I think I might give that one a try.

I read and enjoyed both Cold Mountain and The Lovely Bones, both quite poignant. Some of these others sound like great recommendations.

From 2004 I really really loved The Davinchi Code and Angels And Demons by Dan Brown. I'm not a hundred percent sure if they were published in 04, but that's when I read them and I thought they were excelent, especially The Davinchi Code, which raises some amazingly well thought out arguments to the current New Testimment. Not outright disagreement as such, but well ... you gotta read it to understand. It's fasinating.
